Please join us for a very special event as we welcome best-selling author Simon Choa-Johnston, writer of this month's book club read, House of Wives.
Mr. Choa-Johnston will talk about discovering his Jewish Ancestry. He describes his decade long research about the journey to uncover his Great-Grandfather, Emanual Belilos, a Sephardic Jew from Calcutta who becomes a 19th Century Opium Merchant in Hong Kong in the late 1800’s.
This event will include a slideshow detailing the Opium Trade including planting, harvesting, and manufacturing. As well as photos and historical background of Judaism in India and China.
Questions and answers with the author will follow as well as refreshments.
