Calling all Challah lovers! Learn to bake and braid challah!
The WRSSJCC and Jewish Family Services join forces for a new “Bake One Take One” program.
The JFS Challah Baking Program invites you to contribute to tikkum olam (repairing the world) by acting locally in our Surrey community, while enjoying the beautiful community experience of baking challah together. Participants take one challah home, and bake one to be distributed directly to our neighbours in need of food security, Surrey JFS clients, in their biweekly grocery orders. While the dough rises, we will learn about JFS Food Security Programs and how, as a community, we can get involved and support them.
Join us for our first Challah Bake, led by chef Michelle Dodek!
In this first "Bake One Take One" Challah Baking Club event on Sunday September 10th, we will be making round challahs ahead of Rosh Hashana! To kick off our year-long program, we will be joined by Chef Michelle Dodek, who will be teaching us the entire process of baking challah, from dough to finish. Subsequent Challah Baking Club events will simply involve braiding and baking due to the time requirements of making dough.
